In short: A cosy Halloween night does not need fake blood, just a blanket, hot chocolate and a bit of horror you can laugh about too. That is exactly what cozy horror is. I will show you three worlds for it: pizza night with Five Nights at Freddy's, fog and a plush rabbit with Silent Hill, and a musical evening in hell with Hazbin Hotel.
Halloween has a bit of an image problem. Some people think of parties where costumes are mandatory, others of horror films that make you sleep with the lights on for three nights. In between there is something I really love: cozy horror. Creepy enough for goosebumps, cosy enough that you stay under the blanket.
So for your Halloween night at home you do not need much: a fandom that is a little bit eerie, warm light and snacks within reach. Animatronics, fog and a radio demon with a very wide grin take care of the rest. The right Spooky Merch for all three worlds is right here with us.
Halloween night with Five Nights at Freddy's: pizza, animatronics and the night shift
Five Nights at Freddy's is really a game about a night shift. You guard a pizzeria where the mascots develop a life of their own at night, and all you have are cameras, doors and very little power. Scott Cawthon's first game came out in 2014, and by now there are two films and a fan scene that knows every hidden detail.
For your evening that means: lights dimmed, but not off. The Freddy Fazbear Lamp glows so friendly that you almost forget who Freddy is at night. On the shelf go the anniversary figures for the game's tenth birthday: Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy. Best set them up so they are not looking straight at you. You never know.

If you like it less creepy, get the gang as rubber ducks: the Freddy Fazbear TUBBZ Duck and the Foxy TUBBZ Duck are a lot cuddlier than the originals. Everything around Five Nights at Freddy's merch is collected here with us.
And since Freddy Fazbear runs a pizzeria, there is pizza, of course. Topping it yourself is the most fun: roll the dough out thin, tomato sauce, mozzarella. Use olives and pepper strips to make Freddy's face. Bake at 250 degrees Celsius for about twelve minutes. Afterwards it will probably look more like an animatronic after a long night, but that fits.
Silent Hill: fog, hot chocolate and a rabbit you do not quite trust
Silent Hill is the opposite of loud. Konami's game series started in 1999 and sends you into a small American town where thick fog swallows everything more than a few metres away. The horror comes from the silence, from the radio that suddenly crackles, and from characters you never forget.
The best known of them has stood for the whole franchise since Silent Hill 2: Pyramid Head. The Pyramid Head Funko Pop is much smaller than the original and luckily carries his huge blade only as decoration. Next to it goes the Nurse TUBBZ Duck, who is guaranteed not to hand out any injections at your place.
The secret favourite of many fans is Robbie the Rabbit, the mascot of the amusement park in Silent Hill 3. A rabbit in dungarees, actually cute, if it were not for those stains on his face. You can officially hold the Robbie the Rabbit Plush with Sound on Halloween night when things get too eerie on screen. In the Robbie Mug there is hot chocolate, ideally so thick the spoon stands up. Like thick fog, only tastier.

More figures and fan gear are in our Silent Hill merchandise.
Hazbin Hotel: musical night in hell
If you would rather sing along to your horror, Hazbin Hotel is the place. Vivienne Medrano's animated series started in 2019 as a pilot on YouTube and now runs as a series on Prime Video. In it, Charlie Morningstar, the princess of hell, wants to rehabilitate lost souls in a hotel. Nobody but her thinks this is a good idea, and that is exactly where the best songs come from.
For your sofa, take a leaf out of the book of Fat Nuggets, Angel Dust's pet pig and the cosiest resident in all of hell. The Fat Nuggets Slippers keep your feet warm, the Fat Nuggets Plush lies next to you on the cushion. And if you have always wanted a cat at the hotel bar, get the Husk Kitty Plush.
Coffee is served by Alastor, the radio demon who never stops smiling. The Alastor Mug is just right for it, while the Alastor Funko Pop keeps watch over the shelf. Everything else is waiting in our Hazbin Hotel merch.

And after Halloween? Just keep celebrating
If you are not ready to put the pumpkins away on 1 November, you do not have to. The Nightmare Before Christmas builds the bridge from Halloween straight into the festive season. How that works is in my article Nightmare Before Christmas: How to Decorate from Halloween All the Way to Christmas. And for the dark nights between the years there are my Twelve Nights for Nerds.
Frequently asked questions about Halloween night
What is cozy horror?
Cozy horror is horror that feels good. It means stories, games and films that are eerie but not brutal, best enjoyed on the sofa with a blanket and hot chocolate. Typical ingredients are a dense atmosphere, quirky characters and a pinch of humour.
When is Halloween?
Halloween is on 31 October every year, the evening before All Saints' Day. That is also where the name comes from, a shortening of All Hallows' Eve.
How many Five Nights at Freddy's films are there?
So far there are two films: Five Nights at Freddy's came out in 2023, Five Nights at Freddy's 2 followed in 2025. Both are based on Scott Cawthon's game series.
Where is Silent Hill set?
Silent Hill is a fictional small town in the USA that is usually wrapped in thick fog. Anyone who enters the town sooner or later ends up in a twisted version of it, where the monsters live.
Is Hazbin Hotel suitable for children?
Not really. Despite the animation and musical numbers, Hazbin Hotel is a series for adults, with crude language and a lot of dark humour.
And now: dim the lights, grab a blanket
Pizza in the oven, Robbie in your arms, Alastor on the playlist. Bring on Halloween. It only gets scary if Freddy moves.
Everything for your Halloween night is in our Spooky Merch.
